Without doubt, being stranded when the car won’t start is frustrating, especially when you are late for work or heeded out for other important events. That is when trouble seems to most happen, of course. And while there are a lot of things that you should do when the vehicle won’t start, there’s also a long list of things that you should not do no matter how better you think it will make you feel. Let’s take a look at some of the things on the “don’t do this” list.
· Don’t turn the key for longer than 15-seconds. Some drivers think holding the key in the ignition for a little longer will help but in reality, this damages the starter and can impact other car parts as well. Don’t do it.
· You should never ever kick or punch the car. In the heat of the moment it seems this will feel better but in reality, it will cost hundreds to fix the ding in the car and possibly thousands of dollars in medical bills for your injured body parts.
· It is easy to take your anger out on other people around you, including innocent strangers who may offer to help. Don’t lose your cool even when you are angry because these people are only trying to help.
· Abandoned your car on the side of the road. It will likely result in a ticket and a tow to a local towing shop which can add up to hefty sums of money. Call the tow guys yourself or get the car moved to a more suitable area until you can get a repair.
When you avoid doing the things on this list, your day is going to be more pleasant and likely, the car will be back on the road much sooner.
